Two Bournemouth-based bands are heading out to Switzerland to rock Bournemouth’s twin city of Lucerne this weekend. Bournemouth-based bands The Other Chaps and The Point Of No Return will be jetting over to Switzerland to join Lucerne’s own hard rock outfit Parkhouse for two hard-hitting performances. The two local bands will represent Bournemouth at two rock shows this weekend (Friday 31st May and Saturday 1st June) at two different venues – one of which used to be a prison! The two local bands are:
The Point of No Return – progressive rockers whose debut album Aquamarine is being mixed by local engineer Matt Black at Hangover Hill Studio and mastered at London’s Abbey Road Studios.
The Other Chaps – an eccentric novelty blues/rock duo, playing hard rock classics in a ‘chap’ style. (Spiffing riffery!).
The two gigs will form the second (return) leg in a band exchange project organised by the Bournemouth-Lucerne Twinning Association and its Swiss counterpart, following a visit to Bournemouth by the Swiss band Parkhouse in May last year.
Bournemouth-Lucerne Twinning Association spokesperson David Bailey said: “After a few years of inactivity due to Covid, the association is delighted to be able to reignite our cultural activities with this band exchange project and belatedly celebrate 40 years of the twinning arrangement.
“We were really excited to welcome Lucerne’s band Parkhouse to Bournemouth for their first ever show in the UK this time last year. This year it’s Bournemouth’s turn to rock Lucerne! It’s going to be loud!” he added.
