South Coast Indie/Rock band “Mad Simple” have seen a recent change to their personnel with original members Johnny Real (Drums), Craig Barker (Vocals) & Bradley McHugh (Lead Guitar) recruiting James Sawyer (Guitar) and Ollie Chipchase (Bass) to their line-Up. The quartet have been to the “Ranch Production House” studio in Hampshire with Daly George at the helm to record some new material following up from their previous two releases “Playing the Fool and “One Way Road”. The recording sessions produced a track called “Shining” for release on the 19th April at their gig in Bournemouth at the Four Horsemen, along with another track for future release.

Mad Simple

Frontman Craig Barker explains “Shining” is “a story of searching for happier, simpler times of the past without being withdrawn from the current strife beyond the seas of the English Channel. Clinging too much onto nostalgia can be prohibitive and living in the moment is most important. Ultimately, we as human beings must get the most positives out of this life as we simply cannot control some of the madness beyond our powers. Shining aims to spread that message to all that we can empower and be there for one another during these troubling times”.

With significant drum intro the band segues straight into the wall of bright melodic guitars and Craig’s vocals arrive sounding somewhat crisp and unburdened. The track is a firecracker and immediately the sound lends itself to radio play. It’s catchy, the instrumentation sounds fresh and the transition of the new members has added a new impetus to the band’s creative abilities. It sounds nothing like the previous efforts, and I feel this rich vein and positive feel should be explored further as they sound like they are on to something here.
