Rock Regeneration

at 1865 in Southampton on 29th December!!

Retro 8 returns with us usual post Christmas/ Pre New Years night of live bands and DJ at its home of The 1865 in Southampton. This year Butterfly Collective are joined by guest band and Dorest Ska favourites, the Decatonics and rally DJ Kev O’Connell (Soulboots). More details to follow.

Butterfly Collective are a 5 piece Mod/Ska/Soul band from the South Coast. They have been together for 11 years primarily as a covers band playing classic covers from the likes of The Jam, The Who, Small Faces, Billy Ocean, and the Specials, all with the energy and power of the original artists. They also play original self penned tunes of a similar style to those we cover from our debut album “Wake up and smell the coffee”. The album is fairly eclectic with songs that we feel sit nicely on a mod/rock/indie playlist, and others with clear Ska flavours and feel. With a number of appearances at the legendary Cavern club in Liverpool, Scooter rallies across the country, local festivals and support slots to the likes of Secret Affair, the Lambrettas and the Mods, Butterfly Collective have graced this stage a number of times and hold a fine CV.

Formed in 2012, The Decatonics are a powerful 8 piece female fronted ska band from Dorset. Their vibrant live show has built up a great reputation for its high energy and party atmosphere. Drawing on classic tunes from the Ska, 2Tone, Soul, and Reggae genres their set is guaranteed to fill the dance floor. The band has previously played with The Skatalites, Neville Staples, Bad Manners and a sold out show at the 100 Club in London last year with King Hammond. In 2022 they again supported The Dualers at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth. the band will be supporting The Beat on a number of dates on their uk tour in 2023 and are this years guest band at Retro.
