News: South Coast Band SOS (Formerly Saints Of Sin) To Play Their First Overseas Festival

On Friday 1st September, SOS (formerly Saints of Sin), will be packing their bags and all their equipment to drive to Germany to play at the Indoor Summer 2023 Festival held in Markthalle, Hamburg. The band were invited to perform following the brilliant response to their appearance at the Call of the Wild Festival in Lincolnshire in May last year.
Lead guitarist, Marcus “Sparxx” Jenkins, said:
“We’re really excited to be playing this Hamburg festival. It’s our first overseas gig and we are hoping it will open the door to more opportunities in Germany and elsewhere in Europe. Sure, it’s a long way to go but we’re used to travelling long distances and it’s all part of the fun and experience of being in a band!” SOS bass player and Sparxx younger brother, Ash, has handled many of the logistical challenges of organising the trip.
He explained:
“We looked at flying but we were put off not only by the cost but by the thought of our precious instruments going in the hold! So, we decided to drive over and just enjoy the journey and it means we can take all our equipment. We have a stopover in Amsterdam and, once we get to Hamburg, all accommodation and meals are provided by the festival which makes it very easy for us.”
Ash and Sparxx will be joined by fellow band members, vocalist Joshua ‘JV’ Vaughan and drummer Josh Rose, plus their driver, Chris.
The Hamburg Festival follows hard on the heels of a busy and exciting summer for SOS with acclaimed performances at some of our best regional festivals such as Teddy Rocks, Poole Harbour Festival and Upton Country House Festival. They also released their debut single “With U” under their new SOS rebrand which has garnered some great reviews and was record of the week on BBC Radio Solent.
You will be able to follow SOS European adventures as they will be doing regular updates on all their social media platforms. You’ll have to get up early to catch the first one “live” though – they’re leaving on Friday at 4.00am! The Indoor Summer 2023 Festival runs from Friday 1st September to Sunday 3rd September at Markthalle Hamburg, Klosterwall 11, Hamburg, Germany. SOS are playing on Sunday 3rd.
