South Coast Quartet Sirpico have been in the studio at Dorset’s Absolute Music to record their new single “One For The Rebel”. The track will be familar to those who have seen the band live recently as they have performed the new song several times to a great response from their audiences.
The track is about never letting go of something you believe in, even if you have to be a rebel to do it. It’s inspiration came from the Creation records founder; the legendary music entrepreneur “Alan McGee”, who is Rock n’ Roll royalty. He has never given up on the music scene even when things were at there toughest, never given up on the bands that he worked so hard to promote and is still a large part of promoting the scene today.
Paul’s smouldering basslines start everything off before Tim’s notable drum beats and Dan’s teasing guitar melodically broods before Al’s shimmering keys, along with his delicately expressive vocals deliver irresistibly. The track then moves forward to a big cresendo with the bold infectious chorus “One For The Rebel, who never lets go, free from the devil, who says hello”. Like their two previous singles “Digital Me” and the epic “Jamie Lee”, the band have rich creative abilities and this foursome have an enticing chemistry which has always delivered the goods.
It’s anyone guess why these guys don’t get more mainstream radio play or perform at bigger gigs outside of their own local vicinity. The quality is there and they have over a dozen big tunes to fulfil any audience that is put in front of them, they maybe seem to lack ambition? Whatever it is, these guys tunes deserve to be heard by a much larger audience. “One For The Rebel” is out now via Groovepoint records though EMU distributors and available to stream on Spotify.
