The Current Flavour is a new Dorset-based independent band formed out of the friendships of five mates, all of which have a passion for music and production. They are aged between 15-17 and have performed a number of gigs, mostly at this stage made up of Britpop and Indie/Rock covers. They have recently started performing some of their own original material that is beginning to become increasingly popular with their audiences.
The Current Flavour was started by Gabriel Feltham (vocals), to encourage his brother Jude to keep drumming and to make memories together whilst Jude has been undergoing treatment for Leukaemia. The other three members were then recruited to complete the line-up. The band’s first accolade was winning the “audience vote” at the 2022 Live & Loud competition at The Allendale Centre in Wimborne.
The band’s new single “The Broads” is the first song they have written together, and they are already showing some real originality. The track opens with a deep-set bassline; before a pulsating synth accompanies an electric guitar and joins the mix. Gabriel’s strong no-nonsense vocal delivers some fine, well-put-together lyrics along with some infectious percussion. The song shows plenty of potential for such a young band, who seem from early doors to be already firing on all cylinders.
“The Broads” is available on all major music streaming platforms and can be purchased here.
