Leeds power trio Kath & the Kicks this month introduce us to their new single “Stay Away From Me”. Singer Kath Edmonds explains “in the song we are the voice that has been suppressed in your mind, giving power to your reality. As a singular, we can feel vulnerable to the force of group mentality. But by challenging, we are able to confront; we do not have to remain silently passive. The track represents ownership over who you are and who you choose to have around you; an acknowledgement of the power of influence.”

The deep-rooted hard-hitting lyrics are sung with confidence and Punk attitude, standing up for yourself should be something that is readily promoted as it is far too easy to just stand aside and take what is dealt out. The lyrics are backed with alternative-sounding melodic electric guitars; along with forceful percussive elements, with Kath’s vocals towering convincingly over the top pleading to the perpetrators to stay away from me.
