DJ and White is the name of a brand new collaboration between two notable Poole-based singer/songwriters, Neil Duncan-Jordan and Shannon White. The duo this month release their second track “Another Rich Man In Space”, which is the follow-up after their debut collaboration “Someone’s Gonna Get Hurt”.
The pair despite being several generations apart, joined forces after sharing a similar musical outlook and their love of protest singers. The new track deals with the challenges of climate change and the foolish approach by the likes of entrepreneurs Elon Musk/Richard Branson seeking to offer an off-world experience to the super rich. It’s the type of concept that 70’s sci-fi movies predicted all those years ago.
The song was recorded and produced by Neil and is a duet of the two singers’ different voices, who equally complement each other similar to that of Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott. Activism starts with awareness and these two political troubadours through their music have always tackled subjects that they are passionate about.
The track gently meanders along with light percussion and simple but effective guitar parts, along with an infectious chorus that hammers home the message “what the world needs now is another rich man in space”. The two talented singer/songwriters are already being noticed with live performances and festival slots being planned, alongside more recordings.
Their only problem at the moment is that they only have two tracks recorded together as they both have their own musical careers to care take of as well.
