Launch Party at the Bear Cave in Bournemouth

Sinful Maggie formed back in 2015 with the intention of being a fast and loud punk rock band with an accordion; something you don’t find often in the punk scene and something they hadn’t come across before. It wasn’t long before they were being offered slots at festivals and punk gigs, their first big offer being a set on Camp Bestival’s Big Top stage in 2015.

The band released their debut self-titled album in 2017, which was quickly followed by a 3-track EP. Since the release of their debut album, Sinful Maggie has travelled the country relentlessly playing venues and festivals both big and small. They have supported a number of classic punk bands like UK Subs, 999 and Subhumans; Celtic punk and folk rock bands like The Rumjacks, Mahones, The Real McKenzie’s and Ferocious Dog; and played plenty of festivals including Camp Bestival, Boomtown, Rebellion, Larmer Tree, HRH Punk, InCider, OutCider, Morcombe Punk Festival, Jurassic Fields, and the list goes on.

The past year has seen them play the main stage at Teddy Rocks, as well as the O2 Academy Bournemouth where they supported Black Water County. More recently they played the UKs biggest punk rock festival; Rebellion. To finish the year off, Sinful Maggie are releasing their second album, Psychos & Sycophants, at Bear’s Bar and Venue in Bournemouth. The launch event will take place on October 1st.

Briony, who plays accordion in the band, said “It’s been a really long time coming. The songs have been written for a very long time, but we’ve had a lot of different issues that have delayed the release. We’re really pleased it’s finally coming out and is pretty proud of what we’ve achieved”

The album consists of 11 tracks, all of which have been written and performed by the band which is made up of brothers Charlie (guitar/vocals) and Russ Draper (bass/vocals), Briony Ireland (accordion/vocals) and Si Dew (drums).

“I’d actually listen to this album. Which doesn’t sound like much, but I never listen to our music after it’s released. But this is one I’d actually listen to, and not just because I have to!” Charlie says, indicating that he thinks the album is their best work to date.

The launch event will see another popular local punk band The Mistakes open up the night. Sinful Maggie also wants to clarify that the launch event is the only chance you’ll get to grab a copy of Psychos & Sycophants until two weeks after when physical copies will be available to buy online. Streamers and downloaders will have to wait a while longer than that.

Tickets are £5 and can be purchased here.
