“Too Late” is the debut single from the Bournemouth-based indie/grunge duo, “Opalites’. The track is a joint creation, written by Taya Minchington and produced and mastered by band mate Emily Howells at Absolute Music Studios in their hometown. At 3 minutes and 40 seconds, the track shows the band pulling from a resource of influences that have certainly got their creativity kick-started.
Founding members Emily and Taya recently recruited live drummer Alisha Godber after they all her at the Bournemouth Academy of Modern Music, where she was studying. They have started gigging in and around the local area with gigs at Chaplin’s in Boscombe, Finns in Weymouth, as well as Canvas and a notable support slot with The Kut at The Anvil in Bournemouth.
The single is an angst-ridden slice of youthful exuberance; bold and brash with a poignant driving rhythm section and wonderfully flowing basslines. Their use of melodic guitars blends perfectly alongside a sultry vocal delivery. The young band shows plenty of confidence and unlike others seem to have plenty of direction, with a whole host of other original material already under their belts.
