Dorset singer/songwriter Jonny Phillips and his band follow the recent “Yin” EP with the release of “Yang” in January 2023. Ahead of the release, the first single from the new EP by the trio is going to be ‘Never Change’, out on the 9th September. The track was inspired by the eccentric personality of Jonny’s daughter and is a reminder to her and others, that your best self is your true self. It was created partly in the studio, and partly in Jonny’s well-travelled campervan. The track has been skilfully mixed and mastered by industry talent Niko Battistini.
The band have given the track a rustic edge that is reminiscent of the Folk/Rock movement of the 60’s and giving the track a modern twist on a classic sound. It features some wonderfully infectious moments of creativity, where the three guys really show their brotherhood like chemistry. Jonny’s voice is sounding very pure and harmonic, giving the track its main focus, backed with some equally delightful clever instrumentation that colourfully paves the way for other new material that is on the way.
The band are to play the Lighthouse in Poole on September 8th as part of Hangover Hill’s ‘Live & Unheard’ series of events, where the band will showcase this and some of their other new material. Tickets can be purchased here.
