Bite The Boxer is the name of the solo project by South Coast songwriter, artist and producer Matt Park; who released his debut solo album “The ’86 Sound” last year. The project was started in the spring of 2020 during the early stages of the Covid-19 lockdown, previously Matt had started experimenting with snyths and electronic sounds with his band Empire Affair. The lockdown gave him some time to explore his musical curiosity further, he wanted to create his own blend of synthwave and other genres that frequent his playlists such as Post/Punk, Nu-Wave and Indie. Matt describes his sound as a style that is heavily influenced by the soundtrack to Tron Legacy by Daft Punk, as well as the dark and gritty side of 80’s electronic music such as Gary Numan.
“Nothing But Sky” is the second single in a new phase of cyberpunk-inspired chillwave tracks, following the release of the first “The Pilot Sleeps Alone” which was released on Monday 15th March. The all-instrumental track floats along gently with some flowing, dreamy sound-shaping; created with a variety of snyth sounds and slow-paced electronic rhythms. It’s a calming tune that needs to be listened to in a state relaxation with a good quality set of headphones to get the best out of it. In these days of fast-paced life, it’s good to take some time to yourself to properly relax. Matt’s music is a real stress reliever and should be available on prescription from your local chemist as it’s a real tonic!
