And Galahad Electric Company – When The Battle Is Over – Releases

Galahad is also very proud to announce a very comprehensive re-release of their 1998 ‘Following Ghosts’ album. This new expansive release brings together all of the “Following Ghosts” related material and consists of a three-CD package containing a totally brand new 2019 re-mix of the original “Following Ghosts” album by Karl Groom, using tracks taken from the original master tapes, which they have managed to digitise on to one 64GB pen drive from the 6 original large and extremely heavy two-inch tape reels!

CD2 “Alternative Ghosts” contains alternative versions of every track from the original album, again engineered, mixed and mastered by Karl Groom and featuring Mark Spencer on Bass on a Galahad album for the first time, along with Lee on most of the guitars, with a few contributions from Karl Groom and Roy Keyworth.

CD3 is a re-mastered version of the rather experimental “De-Constructing Ghosts” album which was originally released under the name of the Galahad Electric Company and which was effectively a companion release to the main album back in 1999. This CD contains tracks written and arranged by various other musicians, DJs and re-mixers pieced together from the original Galahad multi-tracks resulting in completely different songs in most cases!

This package includes new artwork, rare band photos, album reviews and notes by various band members and others who were involved at the time. This release will initially be released on CD only, as part of a limited run which will be available from both the official web site merchandise page and from the recently updated official Galahad Bandcamp site. A download/streaming version will also be available from our Bandcamp site.

Physical CDs will be available to pre-order from the official website from Sunday 2nd August and will be mailed out during the week beginning Monday 7th September which is also the official release date. The album can be streamed/downloaded from our Bandcamp site from Monday 7th September 2020.

The 2019 re-mixed version of the original album will also be available as a double LP on Gold coloured vinyl at some point in the near future, more details relating to the LP release will follow very soon.

Galahad Electric Company – When The Battle Is Over (GECD2)

During the so-called lockdown period over the last few months Stu and Dean have hit a rich vein of creativity and have come up with a couple of dozen songs and ideas many of which they have decided to release under the name of the “Galahad Electric Company” which they have decided to re-activate for the first time in over 20 years.

This is mainly because of the electronic nature of these songs although the album does contain an eclectic mix of styles including an adaptation of “My Orcha’d in Linden Lea” which is an adaptation of the poem of the same name written in 1859 by the famous Dorset dialect poet and friend of Thomas Hardy, William Barnes. Others include a song featuring Stu’s cat Sammy Gorgeous on meows (Mysterioso), plus various nods to electronica, krautrock, folk, opera, dance and gospel music as well as the usual progressive overtones.

Stu says “The writing process was quite experimental and unusual at times (for us at any rate) and some tracks were ad-libbed and written “on the hoof” as it were which was a fun and interesting way of working and they managed to write and record pretty much a full album in around six weeks during May and June! It’s also the first time they have ever written and recorded an album without actually being in the same room with each other at any time.”

New Album News
The band has completed work, musically, on over a dozen new tracks, some of which will form the new album which goes by the title ‘The Last Great Adventurer’ which also happens to be the title of one of the key tracks on the album, which will consist of a collection of both shorter and longer tracks, along with a few musical surprises as is often the way with the band. As they have recorded so much new material they are still considering how and when we release the additional material. Stu will return to Thin Ice Studios once we are back to some kind of normality to record all the vocals and finish it all off. More news to follow when we have it.

Galahad guitarist Lee Abraham has been busy during the UK pandemic lockdown writing and recording the follow-up to his 2019 solo album Comatose. “Harmony/Synchronicity” will be released on 4th September and features once again Gerald Mulligan (Credo) on drums and a host of UK progressive rock singers: Simon Godfrey, Peter Jones, Marc Atkinson and Galahad’s own Mark Spencer and Stu Nicholson!

Once again, all guitars, bass, keys and production has been handled by Lee. The album will be available from all usual outlets via F2 Music Lee has also been busy recording guitars for the forthcoming new Galahad album!

In the meantime, I think we are now pretty much up to date news-wise and would like to wish everyone well.
