Around this time of year there are plenty of re-runs on television of classic horror movies, one film series in particular Halloween is a favourite of most and the star Jamie Lee Curtis is the subject of the new single by Bournemouth band Sirpico. The song details an infatuation with the actress and states that due to her extensive appearance in films, she will never grow old and vocalist Al sings “Jamie Lee I wish you were the one for Me”, but sadly as the songs states “guess we’re not meant to be”. Thankfully for all her fans; unlike the rest of the cast her character Laurie Strode has yet to be killed off by her nemesis Michael Myers, despite many close shaves.
Sirpico are a band with a fusion of different styles blending Rock, Indie, and old school R’n’B to create music that is quite unique. Their chemistry starts with Al’s huge vocal which soars to great heights, along with his expertise on the Ivories. Dan brings his skill on the electric guitar and complements with backing vocals. While the engine room of Paul on bass and Tim on drums brings it all perfectly together. The tune has been a live favourite for a while and the band has thankfully been into the studio to record it for all to hear. The band is gearing up for a show at the Lighthouse in Poole early in January in the Sheling Studio, a place that will really benefit their sound.
