Dorset based rockers Pirates of Panama return this month with the release of their single “Tear it Apart” where they have teamed up with Grammy-winning Producer Mikal Blue, known for his work with One Republic, Jason Mraz, Sixx AM, and Colbie Caillat. Originally from County Durham England, Mikal Blue is currently based in Los Angeles and works from his studio ‘Revolver Recordings’ in Thousand Oaks, California. Louis and Ed make regular trips out to Los Angeles in a bid to develop their own sound in a place where their main influences created a vibrant groundbreaking rock scene.
The new single started out after a jam on an acoustic guitar before the whole recording process brought the tune vibrantly to life. The song is about that uplifting feeling you get on a Friday afternoon after a hard week of 9-5 mundane work, just knowing that a weekend of fun is just around the corner. It has the unmistakable classic rock sound with some lovely melodic guitar and some solid unquestionable basslines, coupled with a catchy fist-pumping chorus. The song at only 2 mins 48 seconds is a tease of hopefully other songs in the pipeline. These guys have been too quiet for too long, let’s hope this is a sign of more prolonged activity.
