Yorkshire’s finest purveyors of all things Post/Punk, Dark/Pop last week released their second single “Spiral Girl” from their forthcoming LP “You Have Been Processed”. It opens with some clever effects, matched to guitar chimes and Mike’s (bass) clicky bass. Poss (vocals) haunting tones slowly build to the chorus while the underlying sound in the background seems more akin to a haunting TV drama. I’m reminded of JuJu-era Banshees in the guitars and wondering if the song is written with someone in mind? Bruno’s (drums) rat-a-tat drumming and Steve’s (guitar) chiming guitars remain constant throughout while the bridge is kept short, allowing the song to remain a three-minute epic. “Spiral Girl” is cleaner and less brooding than predecessor “Modern God”, however, the Klammer template is all-encompassing within. And while the sound remains Post/Punk the Dark/Pop element comes to the fore. With a strong video to accompany this release, it now seems about time Klammer start to reach out to a wider audience.
