on September 30th, 2016 at 19:25at Mr Kyps in Poole & The Joiners in Southampton
The Urban Voodoo Machine is a collective of shadowy, London based lads and lasses led by Norwegian born songwriter/frontman Paul-Ronney Angel. Featuring up to twelve musicians at any given time, The ‘Machine mash-up guitars, twin drummers, fiddle, trumpet, tuba, banjo, washboard, upright bass, gong, mandolin, accordion, harmonicas, saxophone, sousaphone and even empty bottles along with tie racks to create their unique brand of Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues BopíníStroll.
The Urban Voodoo Machine are bringing their “Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues” to Poole performing at Mr. Kyps on Friday 7th October and the Joiners in Southampton on the 23rd November as part of their Lucky 13 Tour. The band return to the live stage in support of their 4th album “Hellbound Hymns”. Their live show consists of 12 rogues dressed in black and red, mixing up music with cabaret / burlesque and are considered one of the most impressive live acts in the country right now, a claim supported by Classic Rock Mag.
In the beginning UVM main man Paul-Ronney Angel fled the fjords of Norway after a very short stint in the Norwegian army and travelled to London. After a period of selling the Big Issue and busking around Soho, P-R came up with the UVM sound. “I wanted to play rock’n’roll music with a different instrumentation” he says and after 13 years the band has played Glastonbury, Download, Latitude, Bestival and Hard Rock Calling, toured with The Pogues and the New York Dolls.
