Including Date at O2 Academy in Bournemouth
The Wonder Stuff live shows this Christmas just got bigger and better, with more dates added at O2 Academy venues in Sheffield, Bournemouth and Bristol, and if that wasn’t enough, there’s talk of special guests too; tell us more! Both hailing from the training ground of good old Auntie Beeb, The Wonder Stuff are delighted to have two of the country’s most respected broadcasters and passionate music lovers hosting these gigs and playing some great records in-between sets from this line-up thatís more full than Santaís sack! The wonderful Janice Long will be leading proceedings in Sheffield, Bournemouth and Birmingham, with Steve Lamacq taking the helm in Bristol, Manchester and in the capital at O2 Shepherdís Bush Empire. Lamacq said: “With Rick Astley back in the charts, someone had to stand up and be counted! Three cheers for 30 years of The Wonder Stuff.”
The Wonder Stuff celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2016 with the release of their eighth studio album 30 Goes Around The Sun, which entered the UK Top 30 and Top 3 in the Indie chart. The band also played sell out shows across the country on their anniversary tour, celebrating the finest moments of their three decades together; from the early days of The Eight Legged Groove Machine to the magnificent Top 5 album Construction for the Modern Idiot and greatest hits from Never Loved Elvis and more.
The Wonder Stuff have hand-picked a cracking bill for your listening pleasure, with special guests Bentley Rhythm Ace. Frontman Miles Hunt says, “To round up our triumphant 30th anniversary year The Wonder Stuff have invited our old friends, Bentley Rhythm Ace, to join us in a series of festive knees-ups. We’ll be having a ball, there’s no doubt about that – join us!”
2016 is also a special year for Bentley Rhythm Ace as they remember their first ever 12-inch release on Skint records 20 years ago. “I have been friends with Miles for well over 30 years and I am proud to say ìI was thereî at the very start of The Wonder Stuff”, says Richard March. “We are thrilled beyond measure to be asked to join them for these shows”.
