…and it is bigger and better
Following the huge success of last yearís inaugural event, Summer Live has once again returned to Bournemouth, with organisers describing it as “bigger, better and with even more alfresco art.”
Supported by Absolute Music, Wave 105, Bournemouth Town Watch and the Bournemouth Town Centre BID, Summer Live is a celebration of art and live music taking place in an outdoor summer garden themed bar in The Square from 1st July until 14th August.
Event organiser, Suzy Wheeler, said, ìLast year’s Summer Live was a massive success and proved very popular with both locals and tourists. This year we have planned a number of new events, not just in The Square but around different areas of the town, which will create a fantastic buzz.î
Open everyday, the bar will also have a BBQ and live music daily from 5pm and weekend lunchtimes, with over 50 acts already confirmed including Matt Black, Jonny Phillips, Ant Lewis, Rachel More and Krista Green.
Summer Live will also be providing free kids entertainment every morning on weekdays from Monday 1st to Friday 12th August and this year it will also be welcoming shows from Pavilion Dance and the Big Little Theatre Company.
Another highlight of this yearís event will be a programme of local artists showcasing their ëlive actioní work, which members of the public can watch being created and then have the opportunity to buy. Art Director, Mirek Lucan, said, “This year we have artists creating pieces and showcasing their work. The public can talk to the artists and discover local talent.”
New to this yearís event, Summer Live will be exhibiting art in unusual places around Bournemouth Town Centre including Mexigo Burrito Bar, De Souza Dojo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy and Mail Boxes print shop in the Lansdowne area on Saturday 9th July, plus Subway, Starbucks and the new office of Bennington Green developments in The Triangle area on Saturday 23rd July. Other locations include Mint barbers, Martin & Co estate agent and Eat Pho restaurant in Horseshoe Common on Saturday 6th August. Each venue will be also hosting live music or art demonstrations.
One of the other highlight’s of this year’s event is the Crossfire Cup, Bournemouth’s first human table football tournament taking place in The Triangle on 13th and 14th August.
Sponsored by YOTI app, SportBU and again Bournemouth Town Watch and the Bournemouth Town Centre BID, Summer Live is now looking for teams to enter this rather unique sporting competition via the website www.crossfirecup.co.uk
Suzy Wheeler, adds, “We will see Bournemouth come to life with a huge variety of fantastic free events and with all ages welcome, there really is something for everyone.”
