Upbeat Allstars are a girl Fronted Skate-Ska/Punk band from the Southwest of the UK. With songs focused on pure energy, hooks and a no-b/s attitude, the Upbeat Allstars are set to tear venues a new hole….
With a punk rock opening I was not sure about the Ska reference, but it soon became apparent, very apparent. With it’s infectious bassline, and rhythm underpinning the tracks it was clear! The interesting twist being the punk rock guitars. Not to mention the great vocals by Christie.
“Breaking Point” takes a different tack, as it kicks in the vocals take on a more rap/shouting approach for the chorus, and although this would not necessarily work for the whole album it puts something a little different into this fast paced track.
“Wasted” has the feel of some of the American punk Rock acts, but the strong Ska under-current keeps it just a side step away of being “done before” in places, but nonetheless a cracking tracks especially considering the fast vocal delivery.
Standout tracks “I Just Came For The Violence”, for amusing lyrics, great hooks, and for being the kind of track that the fans must be singing along to at full force! With the great line of “I don’t know any of the words, I only came for the violence”. “breaking Point” for it’s in your face attitude by the time the chorus hits you, and the short track “Ever After” about the learning about love from a Disney Film.
With their punk rock/ska sound they provide a more than generous slice of energetic summer fun, and by the time it finishes you feel infused with energy. The album is infectious, with the fast paced vocal delivery keeping your foot tapping and head nodding. These guys know how to pen amusing songs, “Ever After” without being comedic or a novelty act, as well the more serious tracks “Small Town Mentality” and “Breaking Point”. Well worth checking out. Go on. Wake Up! Check them out. Do it now!
